A Trip Back in Time
South Australia’s caravan industry has a long, rich history, dating back to the early 1900s. Horse-drawn wagons were technically the first caravans used for transport and accommodation on long journeys. Car ownership became more common in the 1920s and 30s which saw caravans being designed specifically for car use.
This marked the beginning of the caravan industry we know today where companies began producing caravans in South Australia. The caravan industry grew and evolved with new designs, technologies and comfort features during the 20th century.
Caravans offered people the ease to move more freely and cheaply, and the industry itself contributed to the development of tourism in SA. Today, South Australia’s caravan industry is a dynamic, thriving sector in the economy. Caravans are in demand across Australia and globally and companies are producing high quality caravans to cater to all needs.
